I was reflecting on Romans 5:5 the other day and how it sounds like a Valentine’s Day sentiment. Because God dearly loves us, he gives us a gift. And it’s not just a present, it’s a presence, a continual ongoing gift. And it’s more than a regular gift, it’s actually himself in the form of the Holy Spirit. What is God’s Holy Spirit doing when we receive him? He’s filling up our hearts completely with his love. God’s love is so great, and so high, and so wide, that his love overwhelms and overflows. Such is the great-big vastness of God’s love!

Love that surpasses knowledge overflowing us. When we’re filled with God’s Holy Spirit, we’re just not big enough to contain all of who he is and so we burst at the seams and leak love everywhere.

Are you seeking love? Are you searching for God? Are you seeking and not quite sure what you’re even searching for? Let me encourage you to seek the love of the Heavenly Father this Valentine’s Day. He has perfect love (1 Corinthians 13), and the Holy Spirit which he loves to give!

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15. I’m so grateful for the greatness of God’s love and his generosity in sharing himself with us. Be sure to lean into him by learning more about him. He would love to hang out with you as you pray and read his word, the Bible.
