Test Your Christmas Movie Knowledge: Christmas Movie Quiz

Let’s kick off the holiday season with a fun little Christmas movie quiz! How well do you know Christmas movies? Are you able to match movie quotes to the correct Christmas movie?

I’ve created three short quizes to test your Christmas movie knowledge! The answers range from popular, newer movies like Elf and Christmas at the Cranks, to old, familiar classics like It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas. And don’t forget those animated features we loved as kids – A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I’ve sprinkled in a few other favorites to fill in all the decades in between with movies like The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Jingle All the Way and Home Alone.

It was hard to narrow down my selection of quotes! So instead of creating one Christmas movie quiz, I’ve created three with different levels of difficulity. Are you ready?

Christmas Movie Quiz – Level One

Here are a few easy ones to get you started.

Christmas Movie Quiz – Level Two

Christmas Movie Quiz – Level Three

This level contains quotes from more relatively unknown Christmas movies as well quotations I hope are just a little harder to place!

Movies with the Family

How did you do on each Christmas movie quiz? Are you curious at all about some of these movies you haven’t seen? Grab a friend or your family and discover a new holiday movie together this year.

My family is gearing up for our annual Christmas Movie Marathon! This tradition started when I was in high school.

Way back when you couldn’t just stream on demand, we were dependent on the TV stations for our movie viewing. Every year up to this point we would check out local listings in December and find that we’d already missed A Charlie Brown Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Finally we got wise and realized that the stations played them on the weekend after Thanksgiving. So we set aside the weekend to watch our Christmas favorites.

Now my parents have a huge selection of Christmas DVDs, so we can watch whatever we pick during our movie marathon.

Our Lesser Known Favorites

There are several older movies that are hilarious! Black and white is not for everyone, but if you appreciate older movies, be sure to watch We’re No Angels (Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov and Aldo Ray), The Shop around the Corner (Jimmy Stewart), and Christmas in Connecticut (Barbara Stanwyck).

A more romantic, classic, black and white would be The Bishop’s Wife (Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven). And these classic movie suggestions are of course assuming that you are well familiar with It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas. You can also read last year’s movie review post, “Best Christmas Movies from the 40’s and 50’s.”

I’m still searching for a version of A Christmas Carol that I love as much as the book. I welcome suggestions in the comments.!

Newer Christmas romances all seem to fall into the Hallmark variety. Predictable, but still heart-warming. I enjoy watching A Very Merry Mixup and Doris Roberts as Mrs. Mircle.

My favorite nativity portrayals are found in The Fourth Wiseman starring Martin Sheen and The Nativity Story. The Fourth Wiseman is long, but wonderful and sprinkled with some humor.

And some other comedic classics we enjoy are Eloise at Christmastime, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!

What are your movie favorites?
