Homemade pizza starts with a great crust.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. rapid rise yeast
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil, plus more
Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together flour, salt, and yeast. Measure olive oil into a liquid measuring cup. Add enough warm tap water (110ºF) to bring the level up to 1 cup.
- Stir oil and water into the flour mixture until completely combined. Remove spoon and knead the dough inside the bowl, until the dough is smooth and uniform. Remove dough from bowl, add a little more olive oil to your bowl (approx. ½ Tbsp.), and return the dough to the bowl, turning the dough in the oil to coat completely. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
- Punch down dough. It will not look like it has risen much, but will be soft and spongy. Turn onto lightly floured surface. Roll into 12”, 14” or 16” circle. Transfer to greased, round pizza pan and
prick several times with a fork.
